Needlefelted flower

I've done a bit of needlefelting on a tree I'm doing for a challenge from the York Dollybirds cloth doll group, but this is first item I've made just using needlefelting. I could of course embellish it but wanted to show it in it's raw state :)

About time too!

I've been a bad blogger, not posted for a while. I've managed to upload some pics of recent cards today. I'm currently making a hammock for my granddaughter's teddies. Also I've decided I'm not happy with Scary Fairy's (Altered Barbie) wings or skirt so am hoping to be able to make new ones before the cloth doll group meeting this coming Sunday.

Fabric painted T-shirt

I like to do a bit of fabric painting (and dyeing) and had this plain brown t-shirt from M&S which I decided to brighten up a bit. I've used a lovely 12"x12" stencil - 'Windsong' from http://www.thecraftersworkshop.com/ they do 6"x6" versions which are scaled down. They can be used for lots of different projects including paper and household projects. I used Jones Tones Pearly paint in copper as this is quite thick so doesn't run. If you've never done stencilling before and fancy having a go it's best to use a dabbing motion with the paint to help prevent getting the paint under the stencil at the edges of the design. This particular type of paint doesn't need to be heat set as some fabric paints do. I sprinkled a little glitter on while the paint was still wet. Again this type of paint can be used to adhere beads but I stitched a few on once the paint was dry.

Altered Barbie

At the cloth doll group I go to http://www.yorkdollybirds.co.uk/home.htm we often have challenges which we can take part in or not as we wish. A few months ago it was to do an 'Altered Barbie' well it's taken a while but at last I've finished mine. She's a 'Scary Fairy' lol. I could have asked my granddaughter for one but somebody had bought some cheap dolls for £1 each. I had to chop her arms off - sorry - as I wanted her to have her arms akimbo for attitude. Managed to cadge a pair of boots off my granddaughter though, which I painted black. Her wings are made from vilene pelmet lining covered in silver foil wrapping paper which I heated with a heat gun and rubbed over with black Stazon.

Stash from Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch show

I visited the Fashion Embroidery & Stitch show at Great Yorkshire Showground Harrogate, last Saturday and had a wonderful time. It was really cold when I first got there and thought I'd only last a couple of hours, can't stand being cold. Luckily it warmed up and I was able to last all day. In case you're interested I had on 2 vests, another top (can't remember what now) wool cardi, pashmina and jacket and took another pashmina with me; which I ended up wearing; as I know it can be cold in there lol. Anyway bought some good stuff just need some ideas on what to do with it now :-/

They always have a great knitted display, this year it was 'Shaun the Sheep's Great British PicKnit' isn't it fabulous? This is only part of it. Those cakes look good enough to eat yum yum.

Handbag card

I made this for the 'Shape' challenge set by emi(rubita) for World Card Making Day '08 which was yesterday. The shape is my own design. Luckily I re-read the instructions and realised I had to use rubber stamps, so made the 'Tag-shaped' card. The paper is from a pack by Crafter's Companion and the flowers are Flora Doodles from http://www.joannasheen.com/

World Card Making Day '08 - Emi's challenge - Shape

This is another card for the WCM Day '08 and this one is for http://stamp-room-r.blogspot.com/ This had to be a shaped card - anything but square. I'd done a handbag card with nice paper and a lovely flower before reading the challenge again and realised I had to use stamps :-/

Wrapped Wire Doll

I was inspired to make some of these after seeing them in a cloth doll book. This is the first. The full photo is the doll lying down so I thought it may look better standing but that one hasn't turned out so well, neither has the close-up of the face but I'm putting them on anyway :-/ I started off with a wire armature which I covered in wadding, then wrapped in various yarns and braids. Thanks for looking :)

In My Pocket - Leaves

This week's challenge for http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/search/label/In%20My%20Pocket is Leaves. This is my offering, hope you like it ;-) It's not really noticeable but the background stamp is in the shape of a leaf and talks about leaves falling from the autumn tree, so very appropriate I think.
